Completed in 1927, this early Christian Basilica style building was designed by Edward J. Schulte and Robert Crowe. It is made of gray limestone and instead of the conventional front entrance, a great crucification group, by Clement J. Barnhorn (who was award the Sax prize for this work in 1930), stands in bas-relief, extending across the main facade. The altar is marble, surmounted by a baldicino of pierced brass, on which rests a bronze figure of St. Monica, also the work of Barnhorn. Description: Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, bounded by East 12th Street, Reading Road, Pendleton Street and Broadway Street, built from 1848 to 1850 by Seneca Palmer and the Verdin Company, is a Greek revival style church in the Pendleton section of Cincinnati. Description: Reverse reads: "St. Mark's Church (Cin Hi) Lombard Style" Located at 3500 Montgomery Rd in the Evanston neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, this Roman Catholic church was designed by Henry Schlacks and Joseph G. Steinkamp, in the style of a Roman Basilica. It was completed and dedicated in 1916 and cost about $150,000 to erect. The exterior is of brick with terracotta facing, colored to match Roman Travertine stone, with Verona facade and free-standing campanile tower. The roofing is of imported Roman tile. Imposing marble altars and bas-relief statues are in the interior, which seats 850, exclusive of the choir gallery and two votive chapels accommodating 150. View on Ohio Memory.
